What the call can sound like
An illustration. Real calls vary with the business.
- Phone menu“For baggage services, press 3…”
- BookChooses the option that matches your reason for calling.
- Recording“All of our agents are busy. Please continue to hold.”
- BookKeeps waiting. Recordings and music don't count as a person.
- Agent“Baggage services, how can I help?”
- Book“One moment please.” Your phone rings. Press any key and you're talking to the agent.
How it works
- 1
Text the airline and the reason
Say which airline, what it's about (a change, a refund, a missing bag) and that you want a call when someone answers.
- 2
The assistant holds
It gets through the menu and waits, however long the line stays up.
- 3
You take the call
When an agent answers, Book rings you. Press a key to connect. The assistant then leaves the call.
What to put in your text
- Which airline, and what the call is about
- That you want to be rung when a person answers
- Your confirmation code and ticket details nearby, for you to read out on the call
Good to know
- Delays and bad weather make airline phone lines busier. Book can wait on a long line for you but it can't shorten the queue.
- Book can't change, cancel or refund a ticket by itself. You do that with the agent once you're put through.
- For a same-day problem, the airline's app, website chat or airport desk may be faster. Book is best when you'd otherwise be stuck on hold.
- Book shows you the phone number it found before it calls. Check it's the line you want, then reply YES.
- Book calls regular US and Canadian business phone numbers. A call ends after about an hour as a safety limit.
