What the call can sound like
An illustration. Real calls vary with the business.
- Phone menu“For billing, press 1…”
- BookChooses billing and holds.
- Recording“Please stay on the line.”
- BookWaits. It never says your PIN or account password.
- Agent“Thanks for holding. How can I help?”
- Book“One moment please.” Your phone rings. You verify yourself and make the dispute.
How it works
- 1
Text what the call is about
Verizon, that it's about a fee on your bill, and that you want a call when a person answers.
- 2
The assistant waits
It works through the menu and holds the line.
- 3
You dispute the fee
Your phone rings. You verify yourself and explain why the fee is wrong.
What to put in your text
- That the call is to Verizon and that it's about a bill dispute
- That you want to be rung when a person answers
- Your bill open: the date and amount of the fee and how it appears
- Anything you were told when you signed up, such as a chat or an order confirmation
Good to know
- Book doesn't have your account PIN, password or card number and never says them on a call. Verizon verifies you directly, and you do that part.
- Book can't dispute a fee by itself, or promise it will be removed.
- Some menus won't continue without an account PIN typed in. Book can't enter it, tries other routes such as saying “representative”, and tells you by text if it's blocked.
- Book calls regular US and Canadian business phone numbers.
