What the call can sound like
An illustration. Real calls vary with the business.
- Phone menu“For card services, press 1…”
- BookPicks the option that fits a card dispute and holds.
- Recording“Please stay on the line…”
- BookWaits. It never enters a card number or PIN.
- Agent“Thank you for calling. Who am I speaking with?”
- Book“One moment please.” Your phone rings. Press any key and you're talking to the bank, and you verify yourself.
How it works
- 1
Text what the call is for
Bank of America, that it's about a disputed charge and that you want a call when a person answers.
- 2
The assistant waits
It handles the menu and the hold for you.
- 3
You verify and dispute
When a person is on, your phone rings. You answer their identity questions and describe the charge yourself.
What to put in your text
- That the call is to Bank of America, and that it's about a card or account dispute
- That you want to be rung when a person answers
- Have the charge's date, amount and merchant ready for the call
Good to know
- Book never has or enters a card number, PIN, password or Social Security number. The bank will verify you directly, and you're the one who does it.
- Some bank menus won't connect you to a person without a card number or PIN typed in. Book can't enter those. It tries the options that reach a person, such as saying “representative”, and texts you what happened if the menu blocks it.
- Book can't dispute a charge by itself, and it can't promise how the bank will decide your case. Many banks also let you start a dispute in their app or online, so check those too.
- Book doesn't give financial advice.
- Book calls regular US and Canadian business phone numbers. A call ends after about an hour as a safety limit.
Questions
Is it safe to use for a bank call?
Book never gets your card number, PIN or password and doesn't say them on a call. It only waits and then connects you to the bank. Your private details stay between you and the bank.
Can the AI dispute the charge for me?
No. A bank has to verify you, and a dispute needs your decisions, so you take the call once a person answers.
What if the bank's phone menu asks for my card number first?
Book can't enter it. It tries the options that route to a person, such as saying “representative”, and if the menu insists, it texts you so you can call that step yourself.
