What the call can sound like
An illustration. Real calls vary with the business.
- Restaurant“Nakamura, how can I help?”
- Agent“I'd like two seats at the counter on Saturday the 14th, any time after six, under Rivera. One guest has a shellfish allergy.”
- Restaurant“We have the 8:30 seating. Do you want that? We'll note the allergy. We take a deposit.”
- Agent“I don't have a card to give. How is the deposit taken?” It writes down their answer.
- Restaurant“We email a link to pay.”
- BookYou get a text with the seating, the allergy note and the deposit instructions.
How it works
- 1
Text the restaurant, seats and dates
The restaurant, how many seats, the dates and times that work, any dietary needs and the name.
- 2
Choose when it calls
Now, when the restaurant opens, or at a time you choose, such as when reservations are released.
- 3
Get the result
A text tells you the seating, any deposit or policy, and what you need to do next.
What to put in your text
- The restaurant and the city
- Number of seats, and the dates and times you'd accept
- Allergies and dietary restrictions, which omakase kitchens need to know in advance
- The name for the booking
- When to call, if the restaurant releases reservations at a set time
Good to know
- Book can call at a time you choose, but it can't guarantee a seat. Popular counters fill within minutes, and the line may be busy.
- Many omakase restaurants take a deposit or card to hold the booking. Book doesn't give card numbers, so it asks how to pay and texts you the instructions.
- Book doesn't agree to deposits, fees or cancellation terms for you. It writes them down and you decide.
- Some restaurants use an online booking site instead of phone calls. Book only calls by phone.
- Book calls regular US and Canadian business phone numbers. It can't book a restaurant in Japan.
