What the call can sound like
An illustration. Real calls vary with the business.
- Pharmacy“Main Street Pharmacy, how can I help?”
- Agent“I'm calling for a customer to ask whether you have Adderall XR 20 mg capsules in stock.”
- Pharmacy“We have 30 in stock today. They'd need to bring their prescription.”
- Agent“Thank you. Does the stock change during the day?”
- Pharmacy“It can. We recommend coming in soon.”
- BookYou get a text: the pharmacy, what they said and when you called.
How it works
- 1
Text the pharmacy and the medication
The name, dose and form (such as 20 mg capsules) and the pharmacy's street or city.
- 2
Book makes the call
It asks only whether the medication is in stock, and anything useful the pharmacy volunteers.
- 3
Read the answer
You get a text with their answer. Send another request to try a different pharmacy.
What to put in your text
- The pharmacy and its street or city
- The medication's name, strength and form
- Roughly how much you need, if the pharmacy would want to know
Good to know
- A yes isn't a reservation. Stock changes through the day, and the pharmacy decides what it will fill.
- Some pharmacies don't confirm stock of controlled medications over the phone. The assistant reports what they said.
- Book asks only about stock. It doesn't fill, transfer or request a prescription, and it doesn't give medical advice. For a refill, see our prescription refill page.
- It says your name, date of birth or prescription details only if you gave them and the pharmacy asks.
- Book calls one pharmacy per request.
Questions
Can it call several pharmacies at once?
No. Each request is a single call, so send one text per pharmacy.
Does it need my prescription details?
Not to check stock. If the pharmacy asks for them, the assistant says it doesn't have them and finds out whether they're needed.
Can it transfer my prescription?
No. It can only ask the question you gave it, such as whether the medication is in stock.
Is Book free?
Yes, Book is free to use. Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply to texts.
