An AI assistant that calls mechanics for a brake quote

Getting a brake price means calling around and explaining your car every time. Text Book the vehicle and what's wrong once for each shop. An AI assistant calls, describes the job, asks for a price and texts you the quote. Book makes one call per request, so send a request for each mechanic.

Example text“Call Eastside Auto and ask for a price for new front brake pads and rotors on a 2017 Toyota Camry. The brakes squeal when I stop.”

What the call can sound like

An illustration. Real calls vary with the business.

  1. Shop“Eastside Auto, how can I help?”
  2. Agent“I'd like a price for new front brake pads and rotors on a 2017 Toyota Camry.”
  3. Shop“Is it just the front? Do you know if the rotors need replacing?”
  4. Agent“The brakes squeal when stopping. What's the price for pads and rotors together, and for pads only?”
  5. ShopGives both prices and says an inspection would confirm.
  6. BookYou get a text with both prices and what they said about an inspection.

How it works

  1. 1

Text the car and the symptoms

Year, make and model, which brakes (front, rear or unsure) and what you notice.

  2. 2

Book calls and asks for the price

It asks for pads-only and pads-and-rotors prices, how long it takes and whether an inspection is needed.

  3. 3

    Compare the quotes

Each answer arrives as a text. Send a request to another shop to compare.

What to put in your text

  • The shop's name and the street or city
  • The vehicle's year, make and model
  • Front, rear or both, and what you hear or feel
  • Whether you want pads only or pads and rotors, or a price for each
  • When you could bring the car in

Good to know

  • A phone quote is an estimate. The shop confirms the real price after looking at the car.
  • Book doesn't diagnose your brakes or tell you what work you need.
  • If your brakes feel unsafe, don't wait on quotes. Have the car looked at or towed.
  • Book doesn't pay or give card numbers. Book makes one call per request.
